A Melancholy Thought

I am stranded in thought,
lost in the knowing,
that things past cannot be rendered undone,
that tears shed cannot be unwept,
that hearts broken are not so easily mended,
that unanswered prayers remain forever unanswered,
and wishes seldom come true.
